Custom Esports Jerseys: Gamer Tags, Sponsors and Design Ideas
Share
Five folding tables, five monitors, a ring light clipped to the edge of the desk and a webcam pointed at your starting lineup. The stream goes live in ten minutes. On camera, your team looks like five people who met in a lobby, because that is exactly what the viewers see: five different hoodies.
Custom esports jerseys fix the on-camera look and give a club something to rally around at LAN events. This guide covers what makes a jersey read as esports, gamer tag layouts, sponsor placement with permission, designing for webcams and stage lights, an AI prompt, and ordering for a roster that changes each split.

The short answer
Custom esports jerseys are all-over printed jersey tees with the team logo on the chest, each player's gamer tag across the upper back and sponsor marks on the shoulders or sleeves. Use bold contrast that reads on a webcam, get written approval for every sponsor logo, and never borrow game artwork.
What makes an esports jersey look right
Esports jerseys borrowed from soccer kits and motorsport suits, then went louder. The recognizable ingredients:
- Full-coverage pattern. Angular shapes, gradients or texture from collar to hem, printed edge to edge.
- Gamer tag instead of a surname. Big on the upper back, where viewers see it when players stand or walk on stage.
- Sleeve and shoulder real estate. The spots sponsors expect.
- A center or left-chest crest that is still clear in a small face-cam window.
- Optional player number or role like "IGL" or "SUPPORT" under the tag.
Our best starting style is the jersey T-shirt. Add a lightweight zip hoodie in the same design for venues where the air conditioning runs hard, and a polo for coaches, analysts and managers.
Custom esports jersey design ideas
- Circuit trace. Thin glowing lines running from the hem up to the crest like a motherboard.
- Glitch split. Front half one color, back half another, joined by a pixel-shift seam.
- Speed chevrons. Sharp arrow shapes pointing up the torso, motorsport style.
- Topographic map. Contour lines from your city's actual terrain in a dark tone-on-tone print.
- Mascot crest. An original animal or creature built around your team name, never a character from a game.
- Campus colors. For a college club, school colors with an original club mark, after checking school logo rules.
If your team name is still up for debate, run through team name ideas first. For general layout rules across sports, sublimated jerseys explains why full-color patterns print cleanly on these shirts.
Gamer tags that stay readable
Tags are often longer and stranger than surnames. Plan the lettering around the longest one on the roster.
| Tag situation | Example | How to print it |
|---|---|---|
| Short tag | VEX | Largest letters, straight across the shoulders |
| Long tag | NIGHTSHADEPROTOCOL | Smaller letters, slight arch, same height for every player |
| Mixed case | kiwiKnight | Print exactly as the player writes it, or set all tags in capitals for consistency |
| Symbols and underscores | xX_Rook_Xx | Ask if the symbols matter; many players prefer just ROOK on a jersey |
| Numbers in tags | Echo77 | Keep digits in the same font so they do not look like a jersey number |
Every jersey in one order can carry a different tag, role or number. Collect them in a spreadsheet copied from each player's own profile so nothing is misspelled.
Sponsor placement, with permission
Local sponsors, like a computer repair shop, energy café or gaming lounge, often back amateur teams. Treat the jersey like part of the sponsorship deal:
- Get written permission and the current logo file from each sponsor. Do not pull logos from a website.
- Agree on placement in writing: right chest, sleeve, back yoke above the tag or collar tape area.
- Limit the count. Two or three sponsor marks look professional; eight look cluttered on camera.
- Disclose sponsorships when players promote a sponsor on stream or social. The FTC's guidance on endorsements and influencers is a good general reference; this is not legal advice.
Game publishers' logos, characters, maps and weapon art are off limits unless you hold a license. An original crest and your sponsors are enough.
Designing for the webcam
Most viewers see your players from the chest up, in a small box, through video compression.
- Avoid very fine stripes and tiny checks. They can shimmer or smear on camera.
- Keep the crest inside the frame. A face cam usually cuts off below the chest, so place the logo high.
- Watch pure white panels under bright ring lights; they can blow out. Light gray or a tinted panel holds detail.
- Pick a body color that contrasts with your chairs and backdrop, so players do not blend into the gaming chair.
Prompt an AI mockup
ChatGPT or Gemini can show the team a few concepts in minutes. The complete workflow is in how to design a shirt with AI.
Create a front and back mockup of an all-over sublimated adult esports jersey T-shirt for an amateur team called VOLTFANG GAMING. Colors: matte black body with electric violet and silver. Pattern: thin violet circuit-trace lines rising from the hem and fading near the chest. Front: original crest of a stylized wolf head with a lightning-bolt fang, centered high on the chest. Right chest: an empty small rectangle labeled SPONSOR. Back: gamer tag "NIGHTSHADE" in wide angular capital letters across the shoulders, "SUPPORT" in smaller letters below. No game logos or characters. Plain dark gray background.
Swap in each player's tag to preview the longest name. AI lettering is rarely clean, so we redraw the crest and retype every tag for free, then send a proof you approve before printing.
Ordering custom esports jerseys for a changing roster
- Finalize the crest, colors and sponsor files.
- Build a roster list: tag as printed, role or number, style and adult size (S–6XL).
- Upload everything on our custom shirt page.
- Review the mockup within 1–3 business days. Nothing prints until approved.
- Allow 2–5 business days for production and 7–12 for shipping before a LAN or season opener. Contact us for rush shipping in 2–7 days if the event is close.
Rosters change between splits. With no minimum, a new substitute can get one matching jersey later from the approved file. Larger orders save automatically: 5% at 3 items, 12% at 5, 16% at 10 and 20% at 20, with free shipping from 5 items.
Common questions
Can each esports jersey have a different gamer tag?
Yes. One design can hold a different tag, role or number on every jersey in the same order. Send the tags exactly as they should appear, including capitals and symbols, and check them on the proof. We print what the approved mockup shows.
Can we put a video game's logo or character on our jerseys?
Not unless you have a license from the publisher. Game logos, characters and artwork are protected, so we keep them off team jerseys. Build your identity around an original crest, your team name and your sponsors instead. It also keeps the jersey useful if the team switches titles.
Do you make esports jerseys for younger players?
Our jerseys come in adult sizes S–6XL only. They suit college clubs, adult amateur teams, coaches and older players who already fit adult sizing. A school program with smaller students would need another source for those players.
Can we add a sponsor after the first order?
Yes. Send the new sponsor's approved logo, and we update the design and send a fresh proof. Players who already have jerseys keep the old version, so many teams add sponsors at the start of a new season and reorder for everyone at that point.
